General Membership Meeting
Friday, October 23, 2009   

The meeting was called to order at 4:15 pm  by Vice President Ann Atkinson.

Members present included:  Ann Atkinson, Judi Scherrer, Marie Gough, Sheila Polk, Bonnie Hong, Maureen Ames, Tina Beck, Patricia Bockmon, Kevin Blackwell, Matt Bockmon, Alan McCorkle

Guest: Raine Lutz

Ann opened the meeting with a thanks to all who helped put on the Specialty, and especially Tina, Bonnie, and Maureen regarding trophies. Thanks to Ann for the great table decorations! Thanks to Judy Norris for judging our veteran and puppy sweeps!

The new SVASC logo was displayed on the new banner.  We wish to thank Paula Waterman, Inkwell Studios, for her great logo design.

The Nominating committee submitted the following slate for 2010 officers:

Bruce Bertholf (President)

Ann Atkinson (Vice President)

Linda Grant (Secretary)

Kevin Blackwell (Treasurer)

Shelia Polk, Denise Walters, Tina Beck (Directors)

It was requested if there were any other additional nominations from the floor and none submitted.

Election for officers will be by mail, ballots will be coming soon. Must be returned by January 1.

Membership renewals are due by Jan 1.  Paper application and fee required ($15 for single, $25 for family/double).

2010 Specialty and supported entry.  Due to the  2010 ASCA National Specialty in Waco, TX which ends Oct 28 and the Dixon show begins the 30th, there was discussion to consider alternate locations, with suggestions that included:

Santa Clara KC, San Jose, February 2011

Mensona KC,  Santa Rosa, August

Woofstock, Vallejo, June

There was a suggestion was to send out proposals to potential Clubs early with request for what we will need and req and hospitality site, support for requested judging times, ability to have input on judges

Request: Please send out an email to members when feed back on judges is needed.

Supported entry for Dixon show in 2010 understanding conflict with ASCA – don’t want to burn bridges and evaluate option of a specialty somewhere else.

Motion: Pass on 2010 Dixon specialty and instead support entry for Friday only. Second Shelia Polk No opposition, motion carried.

Treasurer's report – Financial information was shared with members present.  Great membership and donation support!! Thanks everyone.

Suggestions for future events??  AKC requires clubs to sponsor different types of events to maintain status.  Suggestions were:  New handlers event, clinic’s (conformation, rally), puppy match.

Question: Update from Bruce regarding AKC status?

Recommendation to include electronic approval of nomination slate?
